05/20/2008 - Evansville, IN (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Bryan Bouchie, a 6-foot-10 245-pound forward, will transfer to the University of Evansville from Valparaiso, according to UE head coach Marty Simmons.
Bouchie played all 36 games in his freshman season with the Crusaders averaging 7.0 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. He has three years of eligibility remaining but will sit out the 2008-2009 season due to NCAA transfer rules.
"Bryan has a chance to be a really good player for us," Simmons said. "He's a 6-10 guy who runs the floor well. He has very good hands, he can score in a variety of ways, and he's a winner."
The Washington, Indiana, native hopes to help the Missouri Valley Conference bottom-dweller end a streak of seven consecutive losing seasons dating back to its 18-12 campaign in 2000-2001.
"I'm excited about getting down there and getting started," Bouchie said. "We're definitely going to win in the next few years at Evansville."
Bouchie tallied eight points, five rebounds and two assists in a 75-67 Valparaiso victory over Evansville on December 11. The Purple Aces were 14-17 in the 2007-2008 season and lost in the first round of the MVC tournament as the No. 10 seed to seventh-seeded Missouri State 69-46.
